A battle of the sexes erupts in this post Civil-War historical drama. Adapted from the Henry James novel, Christopher Reeve plays Basil Ransome, a restless upper class lawyer. Vanessa Redgrave is an outspoken feminist who wants to groom the young, beautiful Verena Tarrant, played by Madeleine Potter. Basil courts Verena, but objects to her involvement with the feminist movement. A battle for Verena ensues, and she must choose between her mentor and charming, yet chauvinist suitor. This new digital transfer includes conversations with the filmmakers.
