    Comments about this product:

This is not your typical western, shoot'em up. Glenn Ford is the fastest gun alive, but won't prove it against another man, he is a scared rabbit.

Glenn let his father be killed because he couldn't draw. This secret has been nagging his soul for many years.

He is married to Jeanne Crain and they are expecting their first child. Glenn is a general store owner, attends church and pillar of the town.

One day he explodes, he demonstrates to the men in the saloon he is what he claims. He is tried of nitpicking remarks because he doesn't carry a gun. He is annoyed over the witness that saw a shoot-out in a neighboring town and his reputation. He is tired of a woman in his store trying to return a dress because it wasn't blue when she ordered brown. Then, the owner and bartender of the saloon doesn't want to give him a drink! Blast everything, he fetches his guns. Glenn gives this village a demonstration never before seen or heard of before in gun slinging! Wow, pizzazz!

Russ Tambyln gives a brilliant dance scene before the story develops. I almost forgot this cute scene.

Then Broderick Crawford rides into the village. The saloon son did not attend church that day. He accidentally gives away yesterday's demonstration. Nobody, but nobody, can shoot two silver dollars at one time! Crawford demands a shootout!

Everybody listens to Glenn's confession in church, he is a talented master with the gun, but he is big coward! He asks the village to keep his secret so he can escape an unwanted reputation. Surprise, the town gossip volunteers to swear on the holy bible and God to keep this secret first. Soon, everybody else pledges too.

Nobody comes out of the church and now they singing a hymn. Now, Broderick is going to burn everything down if the gunman won't come out and face him. Even a cattleman, who can only shoot rattlesnakes and coyotes and sometimes misses volunteers seeing the fright on Glenn's face. When they see the torch, Glenn straps on his gun.

Will Glenn's gun sharp-shooting win or will his cowardice win? If Glenn did win, how will they cover it up? Naturally, a posse is after Broderick. He robbed a bank after his shoot-out in town. Watch and see, you will pleased with the results. This movie is all about tension, boys wanting action might be left wanting, it is really about morality, western style.

    Comments about this product:

This one of the most entertaining westerns I have ever seen. Saw it when it first came out and then again recently, at least 40 years apart, and it is as good as I remembered it. Glenn Ford one of my favorite actors of all time.
