The masterful Alfred Hitchcock crafts a clever and humorous mystery in this early film. After an old lady mysteriously disappears on board a train, Margaret Lockwood's spoiled debutante quickly suspects a conspiracy when the remaining passengers deny ever having seen her. Hitchcock's final low-budget U.K. production before leaving for Hollywood is a wonderful mash-up of comedy, romance, and suspense. Dame May Witty, Michael Redgrave, Basil Radford, and Naughton Wayne star, with a script by Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat, based on the popular Ethel Lina White novel, "The Wheel Spins."
