"The Leopard" (1963) is an ambitious, superbly acted period drama. Set in 1800s Italy, Burt Lancaster stars as Prince Don Fabrizio Salina, an aristocrat who is uneasy as change begins sweeping the nation. The prince wishes to hold on to the old ways, but social upheavals threaten to unravel his world. Claudia Cardinale and Alain Delon co-star in this masterfully directed film by Luchino Visconti.
