Deceit and dance meet passion and intrigue in this special studio recording of the National Ballet of Canada's performance of "The Merry Widow" (1987). Australian dancer John Meehan stars as the devious count living in turn-of-the-century Paris who is ordered to court a recently widowed woman, portrayed by Canadian prima ballerina Karen Kain, with boundless fortunes. Ermanno Florio conducts the Orchestra of the National Ballet of Canada, Ronald Hynd choreographs, and Norman Campbell directs the Franz Lehar ballet.
