Bill Pullman stars as Dennis Alan, a Harvard anthropologist who goes to Haiti to investigate a drug rumored to be a powerful anesthetic used by black magic practitioners. Filmed on location in Haiti, this scary exploration into voodoo, zombies and the supernatural is a departure from horror maven Wes Craven's usual gasher slasher flicks. Paul Winfield co-stars as a good-guy voodoo priest, who, with his daughter played by Cathy Tyson, runs a medical clinic. Unfortunately, they run up against a bad-guy voodoo priest, Dargent Peytraud played by Zakes Mokae, and all hell breaks loose in a cacophony of cults and corruption, culminating in torture and intrigue.
