Description
If there’s one word in Powder Valley’s cattle country that makes the locals’ jaws clench and trigger-fingers twitch, here it is: sheep. But easygoing Jason Sweet won a trainload of sheep in a poker game and he aims to graze them. And rolling, green Powder Valley looks like the perfect place.
In the year he was named the top male box-office draw, Glenn Ford strapped on his sidearm and his sense of humor to portray Jason. George Marshall, who showed how the West was fun in Destry Rides Again, directs Ford, Shirley MacLaine, Leslie Nielsen (as the villain) and more familiar talents in a tale that combines genre sendups with showdown heroics. The Sheepman: Smile when you say that, pardner!

      Comments about this product:

Although this is a Glenn Ford and Shirley MacLaine western, it is also a comedy. To get both genres and these two stars together, it has to be a must see.

Glenn gets off the train, targets the town sly gossip walking down the street. He asks a few questions, he has a following. Glenn purchases a saddle, getting quality at minimal price. Then purchases a horse, rooking Edgar Buchanan's clever offer.

Edgar is the town gossip, spy and can be bought. Glenn asks who is the town fighter. Answer is "Jumbo", because of his big size. Glenn confronts him and smashes him out.

Now, Glenn says why he is in town, his shipment arrives tomorrow. It is sheep. WHAT? This is cattle country!

Meanwhile, Glenn had his first exposure to Shirley. She rides her horses hard in town and almost got Glenn in a collision. She is advised to changed to change bits, so it won't ruin the horses' mouth. Next, Glenn finds out Shirley is engaged to Leslie Nielsen.

Jumbo is sent to ask Glenn to Leslie's ranch house. Leslie is the last victim on Glenn's list. Leslie is now a landowner and respected citizen.

Leslie has his ranch hands attack the sheep and herders. Shirley sees the aftermath. Next, Shirley invites Glenn to a dance. He gets kidnapped with Edgar and his sheep on a train.

Somehow, Glenn gets free and forces the train to return. Meanwhile, Edgar reveals some secrets; he was double-crossed too! Glenn finds Leslie in the town saloon and tells the public how his secret company has been purchasing most of the public grazing land of other cattlemen. Do your own investigation!

Glenn reveals his secret to Shirley. Leslie robbed a bank and killed his fiancee one day before the wedding. Now, do you question my ethics?

Glenn and Leslie have a "showdown". What is the outcome? I invite you to watch. What does the towns' people feel about being swindled. What does Shirley think? Is Glenn killed?

This movie plot was great, but the copy job was poor. It is a nuisance when it stops and then you wait for a couple of seconds and it starts up again.

          Comments about this product:

Glenn Ford and Shirley McClain have a great rapport in this movie. I especially enjoy the interaction between them. The supporting cast is great and the scenery is beautiful. The final gun battle at the end has some flaws, but overall this is a very entertaining movie.

            Comments about this product:

The best things is that it is funny but also serious and there is no blood poring out of anyone, bad language, nudity. There is good guys, bad guys, romance, and a good ending. Oh and the dog wasn't killed.

One of my favorite movie's. Anything Glenn Ford did was good anyway.
