From director Kathryn Bigelow comes this gripping suspense yarn that weaves two stories together in unexpected ways, "The Weight of Water" (2000). Catherine McCormack plays a photographer who travels to a coastal area to investigate a sensational double murder that happened 200 years before. Attempting to save her troubled marriage to husband Sean Penn, she invites him to accompany her on the trip along with his brother and his girlfriend played by sultry Elizabeth Hurley. Sarah Polley portrays the sole survivor of the past murders who, in flashback, gives testimony that sheds insight onto the brutal crimes.
