The racial gang violence of a high school is threatening to spill out into the city in this 1960 film, so two undercover cops - one white and one Latino (Doug Hume and Mark Damon) - try to infiltrate. Don is recruited into the Royals, but Frank encounters resistance joining the Caballeros because he is making the moves on the leader's sister. Both Rita Moreno, as sexy sister Lola, and Dyan Cannon (still spelling it Diane) appear right before launching award-winning careers. Despite the tension and suspense of the original, producer William Rowland later added some nude scenes and released the film to grindhouses under the name "Black Rebels."
