Julie Andrews lights up the screen as the jovial Millie Dillmount in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" (1967). Millie comes to New York City with the high hopes of succeeding as a flapper and winning the heart of a millionaire. Millie accepts a secretarial job to a handsome playboy boss Trevor Graydon, played by John Gavin, who ogles Millie's new-found friend, Dorothy Brown, played by Mary Tyler Moore. Discouraged by his disinterest, Millie settles for a hardworking paperclip salesman Jimmy Smith, played by James Fox. Together, Millie and Jimmy uncover the whereabouts of the affluent Muzzy van Hossmere played by Carol Channing, after discovering her complications with white slavers.
