In the tradition of his previous crime drama "The French Connection" (1971), William Friedkin directs this tense tale of revenge, served up California style. When his partner is killed at the hands of notorious counterfeiter Rick Masters (Willem Dafoe), Secret Service agent Richard Chance (William Petersen) swears to avenge his fallen friend -- at any cost. With Petersen's obsession growing increasingly stronger and Dafoe's slick bad guy eluding capture at every turn, it's a suspenseful race to see who will self-destruct first. Features a very '80s score by Wang Chung.
