The King of the West may have met his match in Mother Nature in this rugged romance. In "Tycoon" (1947), John Wayne is a builder constructing a railroad in the Andes, and knows just how to do it safely and well. But his tycoon boss, played by Frederick Alexander, wants it done a faster and cheaper way that could bring great risk to the lives of everyone involved. To further complicate matters, Wayne wins heart of the boss's daughter, played by Laraine Day, and the tycoon will do everything in his power totear them apart. But South America has its own plans for all of them, and it's full steam ahead in this rocky love story.
