Former cinematographer Rudolph Mate goes from behind the camera to the role of director in his production of "Union Station" (1950), an intense crime thriller set in Los Angeles. Mimicking the semi-documentary tradition of "The Naked City" (1948), the film starts with the kidnapping of millionaire Henry Murchison's blind daughter, Lorna. It is up to railroad worker Lt. William Calhoun and Inspector Donnelly (Barry Fitzgerald) to follow the clues left behind. They are on the hunt for ruthless Joe Beacon (Lyle Bettger) and his moll, Marge (Jan Sterling), and must find them before something terrible happens to young Lorna.
