Vampire Bat DVD
One of the earliest portrayals of vampires on film can be seen in "The Vampire Bat," (1933) a low-budget thriller from lesser-known Majestic Pictures. The bloodsucking winged creatures show up in the middle-European town of Kleinschloss to feast on the townspeople. Lionel Belmore stars as the burgomaster, while Melvyn Douglas plays the police detective who refuses to believe the vampire rumors. Lionel Atwill and Herman Gleib also star in this terror classic, as the town physician and village idiot, respectively.
