Historical accuracy gives way to action and entertainment in this rousing western loosely based on the exploits of the infamous real-life Dalton Gang. When the Daltons' lawyer friend, played by Randolph Scott, visits their successful Kansas ranch of his friends, he is shocked to find it about to be taken away in a corrupt land deal. Soon, Scott must choose between his loyalty to the law or to his pals, played by Brian Donlevy, Broderick Crawford, Stuart Erwin, Frank Albertson, and Mary Gordon as Ma Dalton, in this classic George Marshall-directed western.
