"White Feather" (1955) brought the traditional cowboys and Indians genre out of the shadows. It is a story of the Cheyenne tribe, who were "asked" to leave their hunting grounds in Wyoming by greedy whites who looked to pan for gold on their land. To backup the resettlement plan, Colonel Lindsay leads a troop to make it happen, aided by John Tanner, the straightforward but lovable land surveyor. However, their jobs get a lot harder when they find an arrow with a white feather - a declaration of war - hasbeen sent to them. Now Tanner must try and squelch the burgeoning storm of war that knocks on Wyoming's doorsteps, to save the lives of all who call it home.
