If you leave a bunch of folks on an isolated island off the coast of Ireland there is no telling what kind of pagan rituals they'll get up to. That's what Sergeant Howie (Edward Woodward) discovers when he goes to Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl. What greets him are uncooperative locals who quickly turn hostile. An audience with Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee) only makes things worse leading to a startlingdiscoveryof a shocking truth. Although not appreciated when itwas first released, this film is regarded today as a masterpiece of British Cinema.
