A true classic! The acting and dialogue in Leni Riefenstahl's "The Blue Light" (1934) are surpassed only by the beautiful use of set and locations (the Italian/Austrian Dolomites, eastern region of the Alps). "The Blue Light" centers on a young woman, played by co-writer/director Riefenstahl, who lives apart from her village and, for her solitude and strangeness, is considered to be a witch. Where Americans have the Western, the Germans have bergfilme - a genre that centers around mountain-climbing and the hazards associated with the activity, and is almost solely German in nature. For movie fans of any ilk, this is really a treat to watch.
