Nostalgic, humorous and touching, "Honkytonk Man"(1982) stars Clint Eastwood stars as Red Stovall, a struggling Depression-era country singer invited to audition for the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Eastwood's real-life son Kyle plays Wit, Red's 14-year-old nephew, who is tasked with making sure the alcoholic and tuberculosis-ridden Red gets there alive. The two hit the road, with Wit coming of age in the presence of his scoundrel of an uncle. The film features Eastwood performing his own vocals and guitar work, with cameos by several musical legends, including Marty Robbins, Porter Wagoner and Ray Price.
