The first film version of Liam O'Flaherty's novel, set in the wake of the Irish Civil War, stars Lars Hanson as ex-IRA radical Gypo Nolan, who betrays a former colleague to British authorities for the reward money. After his friend is killed during his arrest, Gypo finds himself a marked man.
