It's the suburbs of Detroit. The new Millennium is right around the corner and for his 18th birthday, Jesse Caldwell (Robert Brennen) gets his first "almost new" car. The King of Detroit, a 1991 LeBaron, the pride of Chrysler. Jesse and his crew; his ex-girlfriend Katie (Angela Nordeng), the drug dealing Klaw (Tim Casey), and the nerdy Matt Kegler (Brett Kline), set out on an adventure deep into the belly of Detroit for a night they'll never forget. They'll meet a horny homeless man who just won't take no for an answer and get stuck in the middle of a drug deal that breaks bad. Soon everyone will be going their separate ways, but they'll always have the night they swear to never discuss again. It's gritty American Graffiti for today's generation. The King is a darkly hilarious coming of age tale of friendship and growing up.
