As detective stories go, it doesn't get more "hard boiled" than "Madigan" (1968). Richard Widmark stars in the title role of a NYC detective who's got his hands full. His wife (Inger Stevens) wants him off the force. Sodoes his chief, Charles Kane (JamesWhitmore).
