Miami journalist Malcolm Anderson (Kurt Russell) recharged his flagging career with a piece on an unsolved murder...and made an unsavory fan out of a mysterious caller (Richard Jordan) who claims to have done it. Rather than go to the cops, Anderson lets his contact's continuing confessions generate more headlines...but the collaboration might have dire consequences for his girlfriend (Mariel Hemingway).
