Originally created for German television, writer-director Doris Dorrie's delightful, crowd-pleasing comedy "Men... (Manner...)" (1985) is the story of an ad executive who goes off the deep-end after he finds out about his wife's affair. Heiner Lauterbachplays the stuffy ad exec who becomes obsessed with the nonconformist artist Uwe Oschsenknecht who, he discovers, is involved with his wife, played by Ulrike Kleiner. He becomes so obsessed, in fact, that he moves in with the artist so he can spy on theiraffair and inadvertently becomes his best friend. Offbeat and goofy, this slapstick comedy is also surprisingly wise and witty.
