When audiences went ape for the tale of "King Kong" (1933), Hollywood realizedthat gorillas could be a good commodity and they've been popping up ever since. This 1998 remake of the classic "Mighty Joe Young" (1949) follows in the same story as its predecessor. The loveable ape comes in the form of a 15-foot tall gorilla who forged a bond with Jill Young (Charlize Theron) as they grew up side by side in South Africa. When poachers threaten Joe's existence, Jill and zoologist Gregg O'Hara team up to rescuethe big apeby taking him back to sunny California. But this causes even more trouble.
