Reminiscent of "The Gods Must Be Crazy," this eccentric comedy centers on Bilike, a young boy from the Mongolian grasslands. He lives too isolated a life to recognize a ping-pong ball he finds floating in a stream, believing it first to be a bird's egg, then told by his grandmother it is a magic pearl. Bilike stumbles upon a TV show referring to the object as "China's national ball," so he and two friends endeavor to return the lost talisman to Beijing. 102 min.
