Even though John Wayne was perhaps the most famous actor to play cowboy Stony Brooke in the Western B-movie series, it was Robert Livingston who originated the role in the first film "The Three Mesquiteers" (1936). Livingston reclaims the role from Waynein "Outlaws Of Sonora" (1938), which finds Stony and his saddle pals Tucson (Ray Corrigan) and Lullaby (Max Terhune) transporting their employer's money to the bank. Along the way, an outlaw (also played by Livingston) captures Stony and disguises as himwhile killing a banker. Stony's friends are left wondering what happened to their fearless leader until a sharp-witted doctor helps them solve the mystery.
