In the summer of 1988, highway worker Alvin (Paul Rudd) and his sister's boyfriend Lance (Emile Hirsch) leave their home in the city to paint white lines on the roads of rural Texas. Stuck spending nearly every minute of the next several months only a few feet apart, Lance and Alvin become painfully aware of the vast differences in their personalities, even as they're forced to face life's travails together.
