Part man, part machine, all cop. That was the tagline for "RoboCop," the 1987 classic sci-fi film about an honest Detroit cop who is brutally murdered in the line of duty and has his body reconstructed into a cybernetic crime-fighting machine. He seeks revenge on the evil corporation that now runs the police department, and the malicious thugs who savagely killed him. The eye-popping, stop-motion animation is nicely balanced with a strong emotional element as the robot cop searches for vindication - and himself. This ultraviolent, action-packed flick spawned two sequels, two TV shows and a remake due out in 2013, but there's nothing quite like the original!
