Cinderella

The Opera Australia and Bolshoi Ballet launched this 1987 production of Gioachino Rossini's Cinderella, now available on DVD. Rossini's original 1817 adaptation (known as "La Cenerentola") kept the fairy tale intact but played down the fantasy elements ofthe tale and favored instead a heartfelt, realistic take on the classic story. Bernadette Cullen, Anne-Maree McDonald, and Gary Bennett star, as The Elizabethan Sydney Orchestra accompanies.
