Director Spike Lee takes a musical look at life in a historically black college, in "School Daze" (1988). With its football, parades, parties and rituals, as well as the students themselves, the conflict is between light-skinned, straight-haired sororitygirls vs. a darker-skinned, Afro-wearing sorority. At the center of it all is a serious, activist student, played by Laurence Fishburne, and his cousin, played by Lee, who is only interested in getting into a popular fraternity. Also starring Ossie Davisand Branford Marsalis. Songs include "Da Butt," performed by EU.
