In the wake of their son Paul’s suicide, long-divorced thespians Isabelle (Isabelle Huppert) and Gérard (Gérard Depardieu) rendezvous in Death Valley, at the behest of posthumously delivered letters penned by Paul. As they attempt to follow the missives’ instructions--which promise that Paul will appear to them, if carried out--the embittered ex-marrieds find themselves on a cathartic journey of reconciliation and acceptance. Affecting effort, the leads’ first co-starring vehicle since "Loulou," also stars Dan Warner. 91 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: French Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English; theatrical trailers. In French with English subtitles.
